Founded in 2013 by 3 young entrepreneurs, the company built a solution to address the content access and information flow problems currently facing the higher education sector in Kenya and other developing countries where up to 25% of time and effort in the average college life cycle is spent on logistics.
Webdesk uses cloud computing & virtualization technology to seamlessly integrate file storage, office tools, academic resources & social connectivity for students & teachers into one simple-to-use, universally accessible package. It also contains a set of world class Plug & Play e-learning facilities ranging from a document & eBook library for the schools’ digital content to an inbuilt video-lesson facility that allows easy, interactive live-streaming & recording of lectures by teachers. It even automatically notifies students via SMS when anything in the time table changes or when new resources relevant to them are deposited by the teachers.
Our platform fosters the creation of smarter campuses with tools & services that better connect everyone. By eliminating the logistics we allow users to focus on the actual learning and by providing better tools, we enhance the quality of the learning process. Apart from increasing efficiency in institutions of higher learning and making them greener by reducing paper consumption, our platform opens up new intelligence channels allowing them to make data-driven decisions and ultimately reduces the overhead cost of delivering education.
