Due to the lackluster addressing system in Kenya access to letter boxes is difficult due to distance, price and infrastructure. In Kenya there are only 500,000 letter boxes which cater for a population of over 20 million adults, therefore the general population cannot be part of a global ecosystem in terms of access to e.g. online merchants and neither can they participate in self employment due to the difficulty faced in distributing there goods. We propose an agency based business model which is backed by a sms based mobile application where the end user registers there phone numbers at the agency of there convenience at which there phone numbers act as p.o. box numbers. The services would include message alerts where advantages are increased security of goods and expanded access to the market for online merchants.
